Relase of promotion site and portfolios

As a tradition at Hyper Island, each years' students from Hyper Island's full-time programs create a class-site as part of the student-promotion towards the industry and the upcoming industrial placements. The concept, design and development is completely up to each class to decide upon. The students of the Interactive Art Director program just released their lovely site. Click here to see it

Also, the students have started to publish their personal portfolios on Hyper Islands website. Please have a look at:

What's going on at the moment at the Digital Media program?

The module Marketing and Promotion has every single student hard at work. For the first time, we're working with real clients on real projects! This is a huge opportunity to learn, and with Stockholm being new ground, it's also a great chance for us to make an impression.

Each student group is assigned a project where they strive to make the client reach a certain target audience or a specific marketing goal. One of the keys to making this happen is organizing ourselves, making sure everyone knows their role in the project. But the most important part is no doubt the ability to generate really great ideas, something that our education constantly has us coming back to. The good thing is that it gets easier every time. In the end, the main thing to remember is that this isn't about succeeding or failing; it's about what you learn from either.

Words from the recruitment tour

At the moment Hyper Island is travelling around parts of the world meeting up with potential students. So far we have been in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. Next stop is Amsterdam the 16th of February. Hyper Island enjoyed the moment of meeting up with the participants so far. Do you want to know what some of the participants in New York said about it?

"The Hyper Island recruitment day was a very interesting experience...It's very obvious that Hyper Island has a unique learning methodology that challenges you professionally, creatively and personally and probably contributes to better working environments and better people in addition to the professional skills you learn"

"The recruitment day felt like a good taste of a very unique learning environment. I'd love to spend a year studying with any of the people that came"

"I came today not knowing what to expect. I was wondering how Hyper Island would fill 8 hours (at least) for their recruitment tour and I was pleased to participate in a collaborative, organic team exercise that was, quite frankly, a lot of fun!"

"If you have every even thought about applying to Hyper Island, I would highly recommend you to attend the rec
ruitment day"

"Amazing!"

"A whole new way of learning"

"A way of learning that helps you grow not only as an artist but as a person. Through self reflection and determination you are able to truly find what your strengths and your weaknesses are, and how to truly push your self.

Karl Nord
Digital Media intern at Perfect Fools in New York city

We asked Karl Nord to write some words about his view of Hyper Island. Karl is currently a digital media student doing his internship period in Manhattan, New York, at Perfect Fools.

Every day I use something that I've learned from Hyper Island. It could be something specific like a hotkey in Photoshop but the best things that really matters comes out of an experience I hade within a group or from a conversation with another student.

Perfect Fools is a very open minded company and like Hyper Island they think that everybody's opinion is important. And that's how it should be. I learned at Hyper Island that working in a group, solving problems together is for sure the best way to work and to have that experience from school is priceless during my internship at Perfect Fools.

Besides being a good team player I think there are two very valuable skills among all the others, both who I've practiced a lot at Hyper Island.

The first is the strength of a good idea. No design or code in the world can beat a really good idea.

The second thing is feedback. Me as an intern knowing that I can feedback or get feedback from the Art Director or my boss is something I value above everything. I think that being good at handling feedback is the most important tool in this business. Not by law change your work after another person's input, but to hear and share one and others opinion always gives the best result in the end.

A great visit to Hyper Island from Montreal in Canada!

We have many visits by great and super talented creative people coming over from the other side of the Atlantic Sea to meet up with our students, lecturing and running workshops. About a week ago students had a great time spending a couple of days with Sid Lee.

Some words from Samohini Pellerin, Sid Lee:
Sid Lee in Montreal, Canada is a Commercial CreativityTM firm where over 200 artisans from various cultural backgrounds, work for clients such as Cirque du Soleil, Adidas, Red Bull and many more. We're located in the historic Old Port of Montreal where the river meets the city. On our website www.sidlee.com you can see for yourself how creativity is our mentor and how truly one of a kind we are.

Why Hyper Island? Because we are both powered with an open, collective culture and have no boundaries between disciplines. Because we both have outstanding visions and goals we want to attain. Because we both know that passion leads to success. And simply because Sweden is beautiful!

Quotations from companies around the world are pouring in to Hyper Island

One main and a really good reason for you to start to study at Hyper Island is that companies world wide celebrate Hyper Island and show a huge interest in taking on students to do internship as well as hiring graduated students. DMG Group in China is one of a recent great number of companies showing interest. What do they say about Hyper Island.

Hyper Island is the world's leading digital media educator and although based in Sweden its influence can be felt across the world - even here in Beijing.

DMG Group is China's largest independent advertising and marketing agency and when we wanted to accelerate our digital media learning we reached out first to Hyper Island.

China is the world's fastest-growing economy and the hottest advertising market so we need the most talented people to work on our campaigns for some of the world's biggest brands - Nike, VW, Fruit of the Loom, Johnson & Johnson.

Hyper Island's unique programme of theoretical studies mixed with active project-based learning is key to grooming some of the most talented graduates in the business. DMG Group has experienced this first hand and our founder, Dan Mintz, is keen to further develop relationships.

For students in the West getting work in China is a tough challenge, but DMG Group is a bridge to Chinese business and Chinese consumers. We already have some of the world's best creative professionals working under one roof and we hope that Hyper Island's pioneers will look to us to help them broaden their international mindset.
